Spongebob

Permalink 07:21:00 am by cassie, Categories: Announcements [A]

Yesterday, as I was driving home from work, I was stoped in a line of traffic, waiting for the light to turn green. From directly behind me I heard a car beep, so I peered suspiciously into the rearview mirror to try to assess the charges being pressed against me. The car behind me was a clunker, nearly as beat up and old as mine, and in it were three girls and a guy, pointing at my bumper sticker and laughing, mouthing, "Spongebob!" at me. All four of them gave me a thumbs-up at the same time, and I returned the compliment with a left-handed thumbs-up out my driver's side window. Yes, it was the Spongebob bumpersticker that did it. Spongebob has made me popular. Someday, when I'm grown up and people finally consider me a Popular Person (tm), I'm certainly going to have to cite Spongebob as one of my influences and mentors.

I know. Sometimes I too wonder how, exactly, I came to become so cool.

CourtI don't get Spongebob. Though there is nothing to get. it lacks any substance. It's just... stupid.

Sarah (MFFB)*mouth drops open* as she *covers Spongebob's sensitive ears* HOW CAN YOU? After the beauty of that post, surpassing all the other jewels in this cave that glisten from the ceiling, how CAN you speak such traducement? Do you know what substance is? Would you know it if you ever came across it? Alas. The country is declining further. He's been a good friend. He owns the website. He has done much right. We would be merciful, if 'twere possible. Ban him.

ChickySpongebob is my life I recently got the spongebob FUN alarm clock. And also have a large spongebob poster over my desk. Spongebob slowly but surely will break into your cold dark heart.

chevytruckerlisten when the chicky speaks for he tells the truth if you "just don't get the spongebob thing" then look out because it will sneak up on you when you least expect it. One morning you will wake up and find your whole room decorated with the little guy. You'll go to the kitchen to eat breakfast and all your dishes will be sporting pictures of your favorite sponge and starfish (and don't forget plankton). Finally, you go to your car that has those fashionable license plate covers with spongebob squarepants shouting "Stop messing with my brain!" If you think that I'm only kidding, watch out! because it could happen to you.

chevytruckerWell, not exactly . . . not yet but while I was in Wal*Mart the other day I was almost tempted to get the spongebob antenna topper for my truck :p Just in thinking to myself, wouldn't Gary make a cool hood ornament?

ChickyIt would look pretty cool. But you would need to put it on a real truck.

B.R. Quinn I truly hate to be the bearer of bad news, but... Studies in the recent literature seem to strongly suggest that those who cannot easily "get" Spongebob likely suffered some sort of severe head trauma in thier very early formative years. It seems that the only effective treatment, though the success rate is still rather low, is to spend 16 to 18 hours per day wearing Spongebob slippers, on the hands. Sometimes a left side frontal labotomy, and the (still controversial) "fun song therapy" seem to help... I would really like a Gary hood ornament.

abbeyI haven't either. But I went without a TV for a long time. I will have to check in with my tv-loving nieces and nephews about this phenonomenon. I love cartoons...

chevytruckerOf course, the only thing cooler than a Gary hood ornament would be to have Plankton imbedded into your tailights, kinda like the cat eyes that were in style in a previous decade

chevytruckerI normally try to avoid these types of discussions but someone has to say this . . . anyone who has watched Spongebob for any length of time knows that he is not a "boxers" type of guy. I'll leave it at that

chevytruckermark, go ahead, get your spongebob boxers but unless you have some physical abnormalities those SQUAREPANTS probably won't fit too well :p Never mind me, I never saw the point in decorating boxers (I mean, who's going to know?)

SarahI can see Spongebob in boxers, no problem. He just hasn't been introduced. Quite frankly, he should be, and very soon. (Thank you, dear. BTW... ordered any protective headgear lately? I'm still waiting so I can call and officially ask you out. We really need to get going on that.)
