Tomorrow

Permalink 06:31:00 pm by cassie, Categories: Announcements [A]

Tomorrow, at 10 AM, while I sit in philosophy class trying fruitlessly to concentrate, my Yia will be transported into hospice at a nursing home. It'll be a good thing for her, to be taken good care of. I hope they'll take good care of her, but if they don't, I'm sure we'll be the first to know immediately since we'll be there with her a lot. Thanks for prayers and thoughts and cards and phone calls and love and understanding and wisdom. And all that stuff. Maybe someday I'll be able to write you all thank you notes back to completely tell you thanks in the complete and total all-encompassing way I'd like to, but it might be a while.

Just thought I'd let you know.

nikaI'll keep praying, Cass. How far is the hospice away from your house?

martiniCassie, you're family couldn't do better than with Hospice. They helped us when Grandma was dying of cancer, and we couldn't have done it without them. God be with you and yours! ~martha

tsjI hear ya. My grandpa is shuffling between the ER, ICU, and nursing home these days. It's meant a lot of worried phone calls and emails, a late-night hospital visit, and a general lack of sleep on my mom's part. It's meant wondering how long it will be before I won't have grandparents at all, and how long before my mom is in the same situation. But it's also meant that we get to see and hear prayers go up from all over the physical and virtual world, and see those prayers work in very specific and occasionally mind-blowing ways. That's gotten us through more than anything, and it'll do the same for you.

CassieTHanks. Appreciate it, John, Nika, Marti. It's been four years of living around my grandmother. Things will certainly be different, even though she's not yet gone. I had no idea, John... What's to say? That is, what's to say, except, "I'll be praying for you guys."

I like to multi-task: wife, writer, nurse, Christian, ne'er do well. I do all with equal gusto.
