Today

Today I am wearing the same outfit I always wear. Five-pocket jeans, a tee shirt, nine earrings, a ponytail, a watch, funny glasses, and sneakers. My nails are cut short, my bangs are cut long, and my watch is running slow because I refuse to buy a new battery for it, being that it only cost me six dollars at WalMart and that was three years ago. Besides, the faux-silver finish is wearing off and turning my left wrist green. I'm going to buy a new watch, but I just want to find another six dollar one that I like. My shirt, by the way, is a size too big and black (ha ha), and has the Roadkill Cafe logo on the front and the menu on the back. Classy.

Today, on the other hand, my mother is wearing this three-quarter sleeve button-down shirt. It's really cute, all peach, white, and grey striped vertically and at the elbows of the sleeves it rolls up into little cuffs that are buttoned so they don't roll down. Very "I discovered this piece on my travels to Milan and I had to have it, dahling. A Classic Silhouette." So then the other day, she comes home from somewhere and she is wearing these strappy little leather wedge-heeled sandals that are, you know, the slip-on kinda thing. So today she looks ravishing, even moreso than she usually does, which says a lot. People think she's my sister if they don't know her, and I'm sure they think she's the better-looking one too. Psht. I mean, this is my mother, remember, the woman that bore me and five other children and should, by all rights, be wearing a denim jumper and a snood as a status symbol of Homeschooling Mom. It's only proper. Oh, and I forgot to mention that her toenails are pink currently. Her hair is all down in her usual looong brain (she can sit on it) and she's got blue eyes and reddish-brown wavy hair thatIneverinherited. My mom, my mum, is wearing jeans, peachy-colored button-ups, and classy sandals.

I am, understandably, perturbed.

CassEheh. The usual long brain. Obviously, her brain is actually more of a double-hemisphered oblong shape, and I was obviously referring to her BRAID. But whatever.

CassieI'm afraid that you think much more highly of my nearly non-existent wit than is proper, given the circumstances, my friend.

JenHow did we come to be born of such lovely Mothers, Cass? My Mom is positively gorgeous in all respects. She's so... Euoropean. Dark eyes, dark wavy hair, lovely skin, a nice nose... People are ALWAYS surprised that she is my mother, and not my sister, and that she has 3 other children above the age of 16 as well.

I like to multi-task: wife, writer, nurse, Christian, ne'er do well. I do all with equal gusto.
