Tissues

Permalink 06:27:00 pm by cassie, Categories: Announcements [A]

Today, I came home from work and sat eating my pizza at the dining room table. I was hungry. Terribly hungry. I ate five pieces, and they were large. Sal's Pizza, if you must know, and they don't skimp (nineteen inch large pizzas)! Midway through slice number five, Yiayia came shuffling into the dining room, and I asked, as I always ask when she's up and around, "Yia, what're you doing? Do you need something?" She shuffled over to me, leaned over close to my face where I sat, and spoke in low tones. She handed me one of those little packages of tissues that are all wrapped in plastic so that you can stick them in your pocket or your purse or whatever. She put them in my hand and closed both her hands over mine, the tissues still in it. She said, 'I wanted to give these to you. I thought you could use them in your travels." (She knows that I like traveling and that I wish I could do more. Sometimes I think she thinks that I'm off on trips and such when really, I'm just at work.) I said thank you; gave her a kiss. She grinned and said, "I won them at Bingo today," and she doesn't pronounce it "BIN-GO," she calls it "BING-oh." It was cute. "Good luck in your travels, darling!" She shuffled back into her room to listen to her Greek tapes.

I appreciate the tissues, but I don't think I'll ever use them for my travels. I've already taped them to an index card with the little story behind them written on it. They're in a box with all the other things that someday I'll look back on if I ever need something to smile about.

CassieI know. That one is a mover and shaker. Who would have thought? It speaks to me though... Meaningless shlock always generates more excitement than weird emotional posts. :D

chevytruckerWell, I still prefer the weird emotional posts and I also really liked this one about Yia (although it was nice and emotional but not at all weird).

CassieThank God, indeed. She made you a cookie, Sar? :) (don't you hate it when people spell "cookie" as "cooky?" It's almost as terrible as spelling "Cassie" as "Cassy!" Gah!)

SarahNo - the ones she was thinking of making for me when I Yia-sat her a couple of weeks ago. Somebody else was wicked sweet the other day. Who was that? It was somebody old... only I can't remember having recently seen any old people. I'm tired, dear. Haggling over whether or not veterinarians should be expensive only is interesting for so long. Research. Bleck. And we have to do it for all of college. I am so going to enjoy clinicals more than academics. Wish we could just curl up with nursing textbooks on the tile in front of your fireplace instead...
