High Hospital Census: The Pros and Cons.
Cons:
Being asked every day to do a double.
Crying the entirety of my 45 minute commute home.
The same stupid email everyday from administration, "Hospital Continues to be on HIGH CENSUS ALERT" in big, bold purple Times New Roman.
Getting three admissions on top of your other patients.
"Chest pain" admits who are really GI admits ("How many alcoholic drinks do you have a day, sir?" "Uhm, you know, about five white russians a day").
Everybody's crabby.
Pros:
Finagling my way into swapping two shifts for a higher shift differential and doubletime pay for both of them.
