Okay, folks.

Quote of the day, courtesy of my history prof, Dr. M, who, might I add, is an incredibly smart man, however snobbily intellectual he might seem at times. He's actually very understanding and reasonable, but when he gets on a crusade, you can only grin. Anyways, back to the quote:

"You guys have to realize that unless you learn to use proper English grammar, people aren't ever going to take you serious!"

...

Haw haw haw. Life is so great sometimes...

abbeythat's "quotation", not "quote". one is a noun and the other is a verb. that's what my english professor is a stickler about.

abbeyno wait. maybe not.. maybe it should be "people will never take you serious" instead of "people are not ever going to take you serious". no, that shouldn't matter. they're both right. he's right. ok.

Johnwow, that makes me want to take an english course. on saturday night i went to see he[ck]boy with some friends, and they used 'we' instead of 'us' a couple times. i guess that's what i should expect from movies with such titles. ;)

MarthaThe eight and five year-old in the house are always correcting my grammar. They read more, and read heavier books, than most of the kids on campus...

CassieYes, that was the joke, Abbey. :D Sorry about the misuse of "quote." That's why I'm not in front of a classroom, lecturing on grammar. :) Atrocious, J, absolutely awful. Heh. I like the carefull censoring of "He[ck]boy." Was it any good? I heard that it's rahther interesting for a comic book style movie... Marti, what would they charge for tutoring?

tsjOn the contrary, Abbey: OED declares "quote" to function perfectly well as a noun.
