MOVIEPALOOZA!!!!

Permalink 03:55:00 pm by cassie, Categories: Announcements [A]

Had a Moviepalooza last night. The Bourne Identity AND Supremacy back-to-back, baby. To whoever was unable to attend (and there were many), I must not neglect to tell you: I am sorry for your loss.

No pictures were taken, as I was too busy revelling. We all had a bit much to drink - Sven brought it all around town by graciously providing drinks. We had a vast selection on the tables that night, my friends. Cranapple, Blueberry and Cranberry, and White Cranberry and Strawberry, in fact. Sarah Jo, as usual, made the party by bringing the flicks themselves, and we were very thankful that she shared them with us. Because, as we all know, she can be rather possessive of her Matt Damon memorabilia.

And, of course, all credit to Drewey and Chaz, who let us sprawl on their beds and floors to watch the movie, and who let me dump half a cup of Cranapple on their table and floor in the dark because I couldn't see by the glow of the monitor... Oh, wait.. I guess you guys didn't know about the juice incident, eh? Oh, well. Yeah. Uhm. I apologize for dumping juce on your floor.

Err... moving on... Some of us in attendance (Sar, Tess, and I) didn't do much to help with anything and/or provide important things like food or drinks, although Sar did offer up the gift of the remnants of our bag of Doritos that, along with a bucket of hummus, we had been covertly eating all day on the second floor of the Barnes & Noble where we were studying. So I guess we were useful in our own little way. Mostly, we just commented on the sweetness of Jason Bourne's moves (I like where he goes whack with a pen and starts sticking it to his wannabe assasin) and the sweetness of his stick-shifting skillz while driving a Mini. Dang.

But, I mean, I can only feel so jealous, because, really, that's basically how I drive in my staywag. I mean, off the pavement, on the pavement... I can do it all. Basically, I go driving down the opposite lane of traffic in Paris all the time, pretty much. I have tons of skills, which is good, because I hear that guys only want girlfriends with skills. You know, bowhunting skills... numchuck skills... computer hacking skills. I'm pretty much the best I know of.

KateI feel so uncultured since I have not yet seen ND. I think I need to rent it this weekend.

tsjI would say rather that a lack of ND implies culture. :P

CassieACH! You shame me, John! I am just a Woman of Many Tastes, or at leasts that's how I prefer to refer to it. As my singles ad on eHarmony.com states, "I enjoy reading Edgar Allen Poe for the fireplace, long walks in the city, watching Napoleon Dynamite repeatedly, and Dostoevsky. I have a particular love for Russian literature as a whole, and I'm looking for a man who likes to cook, enjoys trips to observe lizards in their natural habitats, considers Ramen a basic in the food pyramid, and who would be willing to pick up and live on an Indian reservation."**** ****I do not really have an ad of eHarmony.com. I've never even been to that website. I swear. I promise. No, I haven't.

CassieWhat I mean to say is that Napoleon Dynamite is part of being a well-rounded and cultured individual. What is culture without a sense of humor and ability to find mirth in the most mundane of human circumstances?

sarheh heh. uh, I gotta break it to you all... I went to e-harmony last week. mostly b/c I heard this woman/girl at church has apparently "met" someone there, which is totally unlike what I've ever imagined anyone at my church doing, and though the source who informed me will not tell who this person is, I nevertheless had to do all I could to find out whatever else there was to know. and partly, of course, just to laugh, but the awful thing was, I opened up the page, and there were all these geekly little middle-aged guys and homely middle-aged girls who were like, "I'm looking for a godly-" and leaning up on trees or sitting on porches, and I practically started bawling. yup. the e-harmony experience. there it is, folks.

ChrisSo I had to check that site out for myself. Let me tell ya, five minutes was to long. I believe I'd rather be a vagabond the rest of my life than to resort to e-harmony or any other matchmaking site for that matter. Do you guys really have an acount on there? And if so, you got to show me some of the hits you get, they got to be the funniest ever.

KateOkay, that was weird. I hit "post this message" and it disappeared. Anyhow...my sister and I filled out a free profile on eHarmony once. No responses. Not a one. So sad. ;-) It was more of a joke than anything. It was ridiculously long. The guy who created eHarmony, Neil Clark Warren, is really arrogant and crazy too. (A co-worker of mine just interviewed him.) We're renting Napoleon Dynamite this weekend. Anything with the little girl from "Corrina, Corrina" must be good, right? ;-) There are so many movies I want to see right now...

courtso am I nyekulturny too? I, like Kate, haven't yet seen Napoleon Dynamite either. Futher, I wasn't that impressed with the trailer... but I've learned not to rely on them too much anyways. So we'll see... I'll rent it soon. And hopefully I won't feel tempted to ask for my dollar back. I did feel tempted (for a moment) to place a fake posting for myself on eHarmony... (but that would just be evil wouldn't it?) Hmm... evil is too busy right now. File it under "Evil Plans" for possible later use.

MarkWell I've been working on my art project all day today. I spent like 7 hours on the shading of Horatii's upper lip. Which is dumb. Since this is a contour drawing project.

NOoCI really want to like that movie (Napoleon Dynamite), but it's just so uneventful that... I almost can't take it! It's harder to watch the Bourne movies now and take Matt Damon seriously after seeing Team America (a movie I would recommend to absolutely no one), but they're so good that it's still possible. Oh, and since you all are apparently such cran-anything fiends, I guess we might be able to hang out.
01/31/05 @ 05:59
Comment from: Cassie [Visitor]
CassieWell. Since you're at least admittant that you'd *like* to like Napoleon Dynamite (even if you feel unable), I guess we might be able to hang out with you, too. :)

CassieAbbey, all I can say is that it's TOO DARN BAD that I didn't know about the "Always and Forever" song that Kip sings in ND, because I would have TOTALLY sang that for your wedding instead.
