Diapers

Permalink 05:24:00 am by cassie, Categories: Announcements [A]

My mom, who is greatly desirous of Teddy (who is 2 1/2) to be potty-trained, was changing his diaper this morning. She only had three diapers left in the bag and made a big deal about it, hoping that Teddy would offer another alternative to buying more. The conversation went something like this:

Mom: "Oh no, Teds! We're running out of diapers! Only three left!"
Teddy: "..." (uninterested in the idea of potty-training)
Mom: "What will we do when they're all gone?"
Teddy: "Yiayia has diapers."
Mom: "Well, you can't wear them."
Teddy: "I can't wear them because she's huge."
Mom: "She's BIGGER."
Teddy: "They're huge."

The realities of life in the family. heh.

Cassiehee. It's too bad. If Teds wasn't so smart, we wouldn't pull stuff like this on him (bribes, veiled references, etc...), but really. If he's old enough to know that we have Yiayai diapers in the house, you'd think he be old enough to be trained. Furthermore, my mother and I used this as leverage for a disscusion about how funny it is that the oddest/freakiest things that happen within our family and everyday life become oh-so-commonplace and unnoticed when they happen.. well.. when they happen every day. :D

johnthat reminds me of that verse in 'o god our help' that goes, like, Time, like an ever-rolling stream Bears all her sons away. They fly forgotten, as a dream Dies, at the op'ning day. amen. so true and so poetic. whoa, i remembered it all. word for word. ;)

martiniThe next time Ted dirties his dipee, haul him outside and wash him down with the hose. It shouldn't take more than three times for the method to take effect. Courtesy, Michael Pearl... NGJ Ministries. :-D
