For all who have been asking - thank you all for being so sweet as to care. Things are better. Well, they are better for me, anyhow. As for my cousin, I can't be sure. We're having a hard time getting in touch with people who will tell us how she is or getting in touch with her, for that matter. We pray, and that is all. God knows, at least.
Valentine's day passed relatively unexcitedly. I was staying at a friend's house for a week and a half, up in the bowels of Maine. We had a good time dancing to barbershop quartets and watching the Music Man (the original one), and I had a good time stepping into a completely different family than my own and attempting to become a temporary part of it. My friend's mom says that I was the nicest, easiest guest she has ever had stay at her house. As you can tell, I have her sufficiently fooled. My friend (I call her Hand-zel, by the way), introduced me to a family that has two guys my age who are going into missionary Bible translation. I thought that was pretty cool, considering the fact that translating work was something I've always wanted to get into, and I had never actually met anyone my age interested in that sort of thing. It makes for a rather strange common interest conversation topic, but I've always beens trange to begin with - this doesn't change things much. All in all, it was a wonderful week, even though I missed hearing Sar's family sing "Happy Birthday" to my brother's stuffed duck, Quackie. Quackie is this beanie duck that Charlie got from my Dad for Valentine's day seven years ago. Somehow, Quckie took on a life of his own and ended up talking and having a birthday party on Valentine's Day of every year. I mean, really, don't ask me how this happened, since I didn't even have a birthday party last year. But, I digress. While I was gone, my family had Quackie's seventh birthday party, and I missed the pinnacle of the spectacle (two great "cle" words in one sentence! woo!) - the entire of Sar's family, on speakerphone, singing "Happy birthday, dear Quackie." Oh, what I would do to turn back the clock. Sar did, however, send me a lovely Valentine's Day card, which, upon reading, I cried. I thought it was beautiful. I had planned for months beforehand to buy her a Spongebob valentine, but when it finally came around to Valentine's Day, I still hadn't found the card, and furthermore, I didn't have her address with me in Maine. The story goes that I was going to drive up to Maine with said friend Handzel and other friend Benjamin on Saturday the 8th, stay with Handzel's fam until the 13th, when they were going to drive out to Syracuse, New York, and drop me off at home on the way. The plan got gummed up, though, because the weather was supposed to get bad that day. Thus, the trip to NY was postponed until the 15th. Then, it turned out that they wanted to stay for the Sunday service, and thus were going to cancel the NY trip altogether. At this point, I volunteered to ride the bus home (since I still had [and have] term papers due), but they wouldn't hear it and wanted to drive me four hours back home. I didn't think that was a good idea and ended up finding out that Benj was driving back to Massachusetts on Monday, so I figured that I'd simply hitch a ride back with him. By the time Monday rolled around, weather reports were swirling that "The Storm Of The New Century" was brewing for the East Coast. And it stormed, but, you know, at least up this far north, it turned out to be something more like "The Storm of the Month." Not too dreadfully exciting, and even if it was, the next day the streets were clear, which is more than one can say about most of the snowstorms that come through here. By Tuesday I was ripping to get home and finish a good old term paper and thankfully, Tuesday morning at 7 AM, good old Benjamin was there to pick us up and we all had a nice ride back home. It was stormy out for the first two hours or so, but after that it turned out to be fairly clear out. At least, I think it was two hours, since I fell asleep somewhere in the middle. Now I'm home, procrastinating against writing a paper, and wishing I could call Sar or Stine or John, but knowing that I don't have my cell phone at the moment and probably none of them are home anyhow at the moment.
I have lately been looking around and seeing that things are relatively blurry. Now, this would make sense if my glasses were dirty, or, better yet, I wasn't wearing any glasses at all, but in fact they aren't, and I am, and still I'm starting to have a hard time seeing things that aren't so far away. My sight isn't all that terrible as is, though I do need to wear my glasses all the time, but I'm getting an itchy and sneaky feeling that my eyesight is getting worse, and that doesn't sound too marvelous. In short, it means that I need new glasses. I'm not sure how I feel about this. We'll see when i get the bill, I suppose.
In other news, I think I've completely lost my pen. I mean, sure, I can write your average newsy blog entry, no sweat, but when it comes to my once-interesting, once-philosophical blog entires, I'm at a great loss. Does this mean that my intelligence is decreasing? Does this insinuate that perhaps what intelligence I had before was simply a monstrous facade and now the dreadful front is dissolving?

These are the questions that keep the world spinning. Perhaps I'll have something insightful to say sometime later on. Really, you just never know.

CassieYes! An update! Incredible! :) thanks for the prayers, JC, you're in mine too. Nope, Andrea isn't still living with us, and I will most definitely tell Sar that you said hi. In fact, we were talking about you last night on the phone (well, she didn't call just about YOU of course. :D), but since I didn't check here first, I did not tell her that you said hi. :)

I like to multi-task: wife, writer, nurse, Christian, ne'er do well. I do all with equal gusto.
