A Good Day

Permalink 10:28:00 pm by cassie, Categories: Announcements [A]

Driving along the road, a jacket wrapped around my head so I couldn't see and wouldn't peek, we laughed and I pretended to be a bag of clothes in the front seat by slouching down in an effort to avoid being noticed as a Girl With a Jacket Wrapped Around Her Head. When we got there, he mercifully let me take the jacket off my head, but didn't allow me to open my eyes and led me along by the hand through the parking lot, as I listened to the cars moving past me at a distance of what I estimated to be about two centimeters away. I was led to a wall, told to stand there, and left alone for moments until he returned and took my hand again, bringing me into the smell of popcorn and the sounds of previews and where I was allowed to open my eyes.

The theater was quiet, and the 9:20 showing crowd didn't seem to be showing just yet. We settled into the perfect seats in an empty theater - three rows from the back, dead center - and ate popcorn at prices that could only be legal in certain establishments. We talked through the entire movie, laughed whenever we wanted, and took up two seats each, and nobody else ever came into the theater. Just us, the movie, and some Coke.

And just now, we went to WalMart and bought the world's ugliest ever green pumpkin. That's why this has been a great day.

courtYeah... it was some 50s-60s era dire-nuclear-war-wipes-out-most-of-mankind book. I can't remember the title/author right off, but it's a 'cult-classic'.

Chera*snork* I can just picture you blindfolded with that jacket. Now that would have been a fun sight to behold indeed.

CassieIt was either that, or no pumpkin a'tall, Annie. :) WalMart was clean out of the,. Yeah, the movie was Corpse Bride, and being the morbid soul that I am, I loved it. It was a really great, really funny, really sweet movie. I've never been in empty theater before. At first it was kinda creepy. It felt like one of those movies where someone goes down into the wine cellar to grab a bottle for dinner and while he's in there choosing, the world collapses in nuclear explosion and leaves him behind. So that was weird, but infinitely cool. It was fun to talk during the movie and have the whole theater to ourselves, like having a big screen teevee in your living room. Definitely one of the more fun things I've done in a long while.
